A Dragon’s Lair: Creating Dragonfly Habitat
Join the Sherman Conservation Commission and the Sherman Library for “A Dragon’s Lair: Creating Dragonfly Habitat”, a presentation by ecological landscape designer Christine Cook on Saturday, March 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Sherman Library.

Wings glistening in the sunlight, dragonflies hover and swoosh past to pick up a juicy mosquito. Looking delicate, these aerial acrobats are tough insect predators, helping to keep nature’s critical balance.

Attendees will learn about dragonfly habitats, life cycle, mating, ovipositing and foraging. This program will explore the relationships between different native plant communities and dragonflies. Follow a succession of these winged jewels as they fly from spring into autumn.

Christine Cook is an artist, educator, and landscape designer whose company, Mossaics, specializes in moss garden design, wildlife habitat restoration, and contemplative garden design. Her work reflects an ecological approach to each site with an understanding of the cycles and patterns of natural systems. Christine holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and has certificates in gardening, commercial horticulture, and landscape design from the New York Botanical Garden. She is an accredited landscape professional by the Northeast Organic Farming Association.

This in-person program at the Sherman Library is free and is offered by the Sherman Conservation Commission and the Sherman Library. Registration is appreciated. Register online at shermanlibrary.org/registration-dropdown or contact slprograms@biblio.org.
