By Car
The easiest way to reach Sherman is by car.
- From the West or East: Take I-84 to Danbury, then follow CT-39 North through New Fairfield to reach the town center.
- From the New York Area: Take I-684 North, then switch to Routes 22/37 from Brewster, NY.
- From the North: Take Route 7 South or Route 22 South, then connect to Routes 55/37.

Sherman is a rural community with no public transportation. Visitors will need a private vehicle to navigate the area. The town center is small and walkable, but reaching trails, the lake, or the winery requires driving.

As with much of the Litchfield Hills, the autumn season (late September to October) transforms the town into a vibrant display of bright reds, oranges, and yellows.
Located in the center of town, the society operates several historic buildings, including the Northrup House Museum and "The Old Store," which serves as a museum gift shop and information center.
An expansive sanctuary operated by the Connecticut Audubon Society, featuring over 800 acres of forest, meadows, and wetlands with 20 miles of trails for birdwatching and hiking.

In addition to Deer Pond Farm, the Appalachian Trail passes through the northern part of Sherman. The Naromi Land Trust also maintains various trails throughout the town for public use.

A country grocery store offering local favorites, everyday essentials, and curated products. A good stop for picnic supplies before heading to the lake or trails.
